11 Reasons To Get Off The Couch And Onto The Mat




Fall is just around the corner…we are entering a new age of consciousness. People are starting to wake up. These are my first thoughts...But truly when narrowing down the concrete benefits Yoga, when practiced regularly has the potential to help you become more mindful (aware or conscious) so that your life is experienced in the present moment and not focused on past memories or future imaginary scenarios. This is the key to good mental and emotional well-being. A general 20-40-minute yoga practice 3 to 4 times per week can lead you to increased happiness and develop more optimal health overall which reduces stress and anxiety. Yoga can be practiced every day and it is ideal to do so but even committing 3 days per week a person can see and feel incredible results. Many people claim to feel results after one yoga class with the right teacher. So it is best to start your practice now...."get off the couch and onto the mat."





I will clarify however that when I say Yoga, this does not only mean asana practice (yoga postures), this includes the “getting to know of” Yogic philosophy and cultivating some Yoga “off the mat” practices into your daily life. For example, a good beginning practice may include some meditation and breathing exercises and getting to know Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga. The more you know the more you may want to explore. This was my experience.
