Own Your Power

(If you have seen the previous Daily Chakra Healing Blog Posts you may want to jump to the section on the Solar Plexus.)

Start your New Year off right with a Chakra a Day Healing Regimen. As you may already know the seven major chakras are vital to our energetic system. The corresponding seven days of the week schedule for enhancing your seven Chakras can be a game-changer for your well-being. Why not dedicate a whole day of the week for at least one week a month to a single Chakra? This allows you to focus and nourish a chakra for a whole day really getting the feel of your energetic system and its function along with giving it a supercharge! Here are the corresponding days and their Chakras.

• Monday - Root Chakra
• Tuesday - Sacral Chakra
• Wednesday - Solar Plexus
• Thursday - Heart
• Friday - Throat
• Saturday - Third Eye
• Sunday - Crown

Start each day going through the following meditation and then plug in the details for each chakra.

Meditation:

Sit in a comfortable position taking 3 deep breaths. If need be, adjust your body on a bolster or meditation cushion to get maximum comfort. Take notice of the Chakra we are focusing on for that day. How does it feel? Take note of the sensations. Is it moving in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction? Imagine the corresponding color filling that area of the body and focus your intention chanting, "I heal and balance my (___Chakra)". Repeat this affirmation as many times as you need to. It is a good idea, especially if you like to journal to keep a good diary of these 7 days. Take note of how you feel and any changes that may arise. Look at situations in your life and be open to checking in to these feelings throughout your day. As with all meditation, it may take some practice.

Healing the Solar Plexus | Wednesday

Solar Plexus: Third Primary Chakra - Manipura - Radiate your power in the world!

  • Crystal Companions: Citrine, Sunstone and Tigers Eye
  • Location: Upper Abdomen
  • Color: Yellow
  • Symbol: A circle with 10 petals and a downward triangle.
  • Yoga Poses: Plank, Childs Pose and Warrior I.
  • Food for the Solar Plexus: Warming and comforting foods like squash, beans, turmeric, and ginger.

The Solar Plexus is the third Chakra in the seven Chakra system. Manipura in Sanskrit is characterized by our expression of will or how we assert ourselves in the world. It is located in the upper portion of the stomach where your diaphragm resides. When the Solar Plexus Chakra is open and balanced you may find that your personal power balanced with relationships and intellect, formulating a personal belief system, and confidence all come with ease. When it is out of balance you may find yourself out of self-esteem with a less than perfect social life. Other imbalances may include a lack of ambition, being manipulative, and feeling helpless. An overactive Solar Plexus may look like a person with obsessions about control and the details of life and even present itself as a judgment against people or anger. These individuals lose sight of long-term goals and perhaps even a greater picture, lost in the details. This out of balance chakra would affect the stomach, pancreas, kidneys and even intestines. If you are out of balance the feeling of powerlessness can be hard to overcome. Try working on the meditation and journaling to sort out that feeling. Are you really helpless? Powerless? What could this anger be coming from? Meditation and journaling are always a step in the right direction and for this Chakra to be balanced it is a necessary part of your every Wednesday until you feel the energies have shifted. As you can tell, color is essential to Chakra Healing Therapy. Wear something brilliant yellow, try essential oils are chamomile, bergamot, cedarwood, and rosemary. While meditating try burning a Solar Plexus Candle to enhance the effect. Focus on the color while taking a walk in nature. Certainly, get out in the sun. For this Chakra, you may want to consider exploring Pranayama techniques like “Breath of Fire”. Sound can also be a wonderful thing to balance an out of tune Chakra - Try a singing bowl dedicated to the Solar Plexus or Chant the sound, “oh”. When my Solar Plexus is out of tune I do like to stimulate my mind with a new game, take a good walk and do pranayama along with aromatherapy. Focusing on a Chakra a day gives me time to understand the Chakra and its function and how it affects me.
