Take Time to Focus On the Sacral

 Sacral Chakra

(If you have seen the previous Daily Chakra Healing Blog Posts you may want to jump to the section on the Sacral Chakra.)

Start your New Year off right with a Chakra a Day Healing Regimen. As you may already know the seven major chakras are vital to our energetic system. The corresponding seven days of the week schedule for enhancing your seven Chakras can be a game-changer for your well-being. Why not dedicate a whole day of the week for at least one week a month to a single Chakra? This allows you to focus and nourish a chakra for a whole day really getting the feel of your energetic system and its function along with giving it a supercharge! Here are the corresponding days and their Chakras.

• Monday - Root Chakra
• Tuesday - Sacral Chakra
• Wednesday - Solar Plexus
• Thursday - Heart
• Friday - Throat
• Saturday - Third Eye
• Sunday - Crown

Start each day going through the following mediation and then plug in the details for each chakra.

Sit in a comfortable position taking 3 deep breaths. If need be,  adjust your body on a bolster or meditation cushion to get maximum comfort. Take notice of the Chakra we are focusing on for that day. How does it feel? Take note of the sensations. Is it moving in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction? Imagine the corresponding color filling that area of the body and focus your intention chanting, "I heal and balance my (___Chakra)". Repeat this affirmation as many times as you need to. It is a good idea, especially if you like to journal to keep a good diary of these 7 days. Take note of how you feel and any changes that may arise. Look at situations in your life and be open to checking in to these feelings throughout your day. As with all meditation, it may take some practice.

A Focus on the Sacral

  • Sacral Chakra: Svadhishthana - Pleasure, emotional body, sensuality, and creativity
  • Crystal Companions: Sun Stone, Orange Cornelian, Amber
  • Location: Three Inches Below the Naval
  • Color: Orange
  • Yoga Poses: Reclined Bound Angle Pose, Goddess Pose
  • Food and Drink: Carrots, orange peppers, oranges, tangerines, Tumeric

The Sacral Chakra is important for expression. Expression in creativity, sexuality, and emotions. When the Sacral Chakra is out of alignment you may experience things like low back pain, reproductive issues, urinary tract infections, problems during sex, and lower abdominal issues.  If the Sacral Energy is blocked it can also be associated with repressed emotions and simply a lack of creative energy or "blocks." A healthy Sacral Chakra will present itself as energy for creativity, flexibility, procreation, desire, and pleasure in sex and relationships.

Tune-up your Chakra by doing the meditation, journaling, and movement. Movement means dancing, jumping and running using improvisation. Shake your body like a dog shaking off water. Try Zumba or Capoeira the Brazilian martial art that incorporates martial arts movement, dance, and music.  This is an extremely expressive workout! You must remind yourself that you have that in you. You are not just an extension of your computer or phone...you are organic, creative, god, goddess. While in dance or movement remember to release all rigid thinking, let go of your story. Today focus on those loving relationships and put forth an effort of mindfulness and understanding toward your partner. Cultivate good boundaries if you are too loose with them. Give yourself affirmations of your beauty, strength and amazing power. Try not to feel guilty about telling yourself these things as doing this helps you cultivate a more joyous day. Wear orange today. I love my bright orange meditation shawl, I wear it as a scarf or on my head! Try carrying a good stone or wear an amber pendant. Burn a great smelling vanilla candle or orange candle. Use Patchouli, Sandalwood or Ylang Ylang today. Try Yoga moves like Goddess Pose or Reclined Bound Angle Pose. My best days working with this Chakra have been becoming non-vulnerable! I love to make a small drawing or painting using Orange Colors and not worrying about what others may think. That's the motif for the day...don't worry about what anyone thinks.
