The Glorious Pendulum
The Glorious Pendulum
The Pendulum is the use of a weighted centrally balanced object on a string or chain. Pendulums are used in many different practices, from hypnosis to healing. In traditional dowsing, a pendulum is used to get an answer and answers are given by the way the pendulum swings. A pendulum that is used during hypnosis may help the subject focus and fall into a hypnotic state more easily. Pendulums can also be used to diagnose blocked Chakra’s and be used in generating the healing of that Chakra.
Pendulums come in all shapes and sizes. They are instruments tuned to subtle vibrations and move by way of energy and the unconscious mind. To me, a pendulum feels magical as it swings to unseen energies that surround us. I have an 8 sided star pendulum that contains cornelian. I made a choice with this pendulum as I resonate deeply with the Merkaba Garnet Orgone Pendulum as it is a fantastic pendulum for use in clearing and balancing, meditation, reiki, and energy work. When I got mine, it was the last one in the store and I almost left without it. I held it and that was it! First, to choose your pendulum you may want to look through the pendulums at the Yama Yoga Store and perhaps make a choice guided by stones or shapes you have been attracted to. There are 6-sided and smooth, metal and wood pendulums. It all depends on what you like. The pendulum becomes an extension of you so it must “feel right.” Next, do some testing. Ask the pendulum to assist you. Clear your mind and space around you. Hold the pendulum as still as possible over your opposite hand. Ask a very general question that is factual, like “Is my name _______?” With a clear mind see what direction the pendulum swings. Ask a clear no question, like, “Is my name _(whatever your name isn't)?” with a clear mind see what direction the pendulum swings for No. Wait until the pendulum stops to be clear on the direction. When working with a pendulum this direction should never change as long as you work with this particular pendulum.
To clear and diagnose the Chakras you want to start and work with the main Seven Chakras starting at the Third Eye Chakra and work your way down. (If you are a Reiki practitioner start where you start with your regular practice). Clear yourself and your space. I use a good Palo Santo or Sage Smudge Kit and move forward with clearing my mind and using intent. Be neutral when asking questions. As you approach each Chakra, the size the direction of each Chakra swing should look the same. If you see something erratic like a very large, small, or unshapely swing it is likely this Chakra is out of tune. If the pendulum fails to swing the Chakra may be completely blocked. As we know an unbalanced Chakra must be balanced for true healing to take place. If any Chakras are out of place you can ask the client to invite a color and balanced motion into that space. I also invite the Chakra to open and sometimes use the pendulum as a tool to help the Chakra open. After all of the chakras are in tune with each other take another trip down the rainbow body and see if the Chakras are now in alignment and balance.
Pendulums can also be used with a pendulum map. You can take the guesswork out of your pendulum readings with the fun and also practical use of a pendulum map. The maps offered by the Yama Yoga Store are 8" x 12". The pendulum work is done by asking questions and reading the answers, by the way, the pendulum swings over the mat.
The Yama Yoga Store takes pride in the chosen pendulums we offer. We would love to hear any experiences you have with using a pendulum!
