Why I Love My Yoga Block

 

I love my Yoga Blocks, they are a great part of my practice. In most situations were I to choose a single prop it would be my block. Yoga Blocks are pushed in the yoga asana market as an item that helps you to hold a pose or make poses easier as you progress. While this is true and I do use it to “extend the pose” there is more...Yoga Blocks:

 

  • Helps in the creation of good body alignment
  • Used as a booster in seated positions (Foam or Cork Block)
  • Can be used to release tight muscles
  • Balances out disproportionate bodies (example: (For Me) short legs, long body)
  • Used as a support for muscle weakness. This can help you work those muscles, and strengthen them with support.
  • Used to navigate a deeper stretch! For me especially in seated forward bend or seated cross-legged forward bend.
  • And certainly used to stabilize the body in certain poses.

 

There are many more uses of a Yoga Block. For a lightweight wood, cork or foam block, it is a good and useful piece of equipment that I could not do without. The Yoga block is beneficial for both beginners and seasoned Yogi and Yogini's alike.
