Yama Yoga Store says, Get With Dhyana and Find Your Superpower



The Yama Yoga Store talks about Patanjali’s vast Seventh Limb of Yoga is called Dhyana. The Sixth Limb, Dharana (See the Previous Blog) is concentration on a single object or using an alternate focal point for the mind, whether it be an object, sound, prayer, or breath. After we dissolve into what we are concentrating on Dyanna begins. Aghhh Meditation! Dhyana is literally the Yoga of Meditation.


Once you reach the state of meditation your brain reaches Theta. Theta waves are those beneficial waves that cause all kinds of good stuff to happen! If you meditate even for a few minutes a day or a few times a week, you will see change. Keep in mind that when we meditate we are opening up some of those dusty hatches in our brain and allowing some of that unconscious to come forward. Only 5% of our brain power is dedicated to conscious behavior...so that certainly is not a lot. While there is activity in much of the brain all of the time it is the unconscious that is brewing around in there. Many of us walk around unaware, using the minimal 5% and being satisfied with the state of all things chaos. Well, its time to access some of that other 95% and walk into your superpower!



There are all kinds of meditation classes out there to attend. Group meditation studios, chanting group meditation, quiet focus, Kundalini and Nada classes to name a few. You could also find a reputable guided meditation online or through an app to start. I like the Insight Timer App, its free and you can find just about any kind of guided meditation or music you desire. If you are at home and starting a single focus practice (Dharana) set a timer for two minutes and start taking in all of the benefits! Yep, that's all it takes to start..two minutes. You could hide in your workplace bathroom stall and take two minutes...you wouldn't even be missed. Remember to gauge your comfort level and if you are having trouble getting comfy in seated meditation find yourself a good bolster or cushion and yoga mat.



Accessing the powers within the other 95% it is said that you can reach beyond normal potential. There are some written accounts of wondrous things happening when meditation is deeply actuating the unconscious, things like levitation, psychic abilities, super speed to name a few. While I am not after that necessarily I wouldn't mind accessing a little Wonder Woman or Superman. So, what are you waiting for, Awaken and find your superpower?
