Traditions carry on as in the 1960s when new Yogis in America were looking for a traveling mat that was cheap and reliable! The Mexican style blanket became the tradition here in the US. In India, a softer more refined blanket was used in a variety of ways including as a prop. We have both! Don't miss out on having a blanket by your side during your practice - for me it is essential!
